This past weekend at the Sycamore Speedway was a thrilling event. Although the weather may have gotten down into the forties, the drivers continued to work hard and put an action packed event together. On This past Saturday (5-14) you would have enjoyed the 4-Bar Season Opener including; Super Late Models, Late Models, Pure Stocks, and Modified Compacts.
The Super Late Model class started off with a fast time going to the #15 of Jay Brendle (16.662 sec). Trophy Dash winner was the #51 of Rowdy Burns and top 3 in a fast nearly caution free Feature went to #15 Jay Brendle, #51 Rowdy Burns, and #O1 Greg Cantrell Jr.
Late Models at Sycamore Speedway are one of the most competitive classes. With new and old drivers this class always runs a great feature. Fast time was secured by the #30 of Derek Walker and the Trophy Dash going to hjis brother #70 DJ Markham. Running a great feature the win went to #O2 Matt McCain, 2nd place to #54 Cory McKay, and Third going to #70 DJ Markham.
With 16 cars arriving for the 4-Bar Season Opener, Sycamore Speedway Officials decided to up the purse. Paying $1200 to win, a generous pay out schedule following and $150 to start. Fast Time was clocked at 14.348sec, wheeled by Jay Brendle #25. Heat 1 went to the young Taylor Sheffler (10s) from Waukesha, WI. Heat 2 went to the #58 Little John Provenzano himself. With only 2 caustions in the feature, Mike Mataragas took home the win (1M). 2nd to Taylor Sheffler (10s) and Third to Little John Provenzano (58).
The Pure Stock division being only two years old had another full field. Fast time going to the 43C, Ms. Stacy Dorris. and the Feature going to Kivin Memolli (21). The last racing division for the evening was the Modified Compacts. This class has really taken off at Sycamore Speedway. Fast time went to 63 Joe Labombarbe and the Feature going to Mike Cunz (11x).
